COULD THERE BE ADDITIONAL COST?

Yes.  If your team participates in an out of town tournament, you are responsible for all your child's travel related costs such as hotel, airfare, rental car, and other expenses associated with out of town travel.  Your team will also allocate and collect fees for your coaches expenses and travel related fees. Travel related fees for out of town tournament are separate and not covered by NW Magic.  If your team decides to add any additional tournaments that are not scheduled by NW Magic and budgeted in your team fee, the team will collect for these tournaments separately.

IS MY CHILD REQUIRED TO ATTEND TRAINING CLASSES?

Training classes are highly recommended.  If your child is playing on a NW Magic team, they are required to be on a training program either with Magic, Magic trainers, or an outside trainer. We are a development program and training is the foundation of NW Magic .  Weekly group team trainings are included in fees , optional specialty and one on one training are available.

WHAT IF MY CHILD DOES NOT WANT TO PLAY ON A TEAM? CAN THEY STILL ATTEND TRAINING CLASSES

Yes.  Anyone can attend our training classes.  You do not need to play on one of our teams

WHEN ARE TEAM TRYOUTS?

Tryouts/Evaluations happen twice a year.  At the end of February/ early March (for Spring/Summer) and at the end of August  for Fall/Winter  youth Season and Fall HS Season.  Based on rosters, we may have 2nd chance tryouts in the fall and spring as well.  If teams are not full, players may be invited to a practice to serve as their tryout.

HOW LONG IS THE SEASON?

Youth (grades 2nd-8th) Fall/Winter September-Feb and Spring/Summer March-July

HS (grades 9th-11th) Spring/Summer  5  months March, April, May, June, & July

Youth (grades 2nd-8th) Fall/Winter 6 months September, October, November, December, January, February

HS (grades 9th-12th) Fall-  September, October

IS MY CHILD REQUIRED TO PLAY THE ENTIRE SEASON?

Yes.  if you register your child for a team, they are required to play for the entire season.  If they quit before the season is over you will still be charged for the remainder of the season -no refunds on team fees.   Seasons are broken down Fall/Winter and Spring/Summer.

WHEN WILL MY CHILD'S TEAM PRACTICE?

Our teams will have 2  team practices per week.  Team practice days and times are announced after tryouts/evaluations are completed.

WHEN WILL GAMES BE?

Games will be played on the weekends.  Each team will be given a list of the tournaments and leagues they will play in for the season in their individual team email.  Tournament games are played on both Saturday and Sunday.  League games are usually one day (could be a week day or a weekend day).   Even though we will give you what events your team will be playing in, the actual times will come from the tournament and league directly and normally available the week of the games.

DOES NW MAGIC RUN THE TOURNAMENT AND LEAGUES?

No.  We enter teams into these events that are run by other organizations.  They are held outside of NW Magic and are out of NW Magics control.  All game times, gym locations, and cancellation of games are the responsibility of the tournament and league directors.

WHAT IF MY CHILD GETS INSURED?

If your child suffers an injury and cannot participate , please provide NW Magic staff with a written notice from a Dr and we will mark your child as injured on their team roster.  Fees can be transferred to next available season or to training program.

DO NW MAGIC COACHES HAVE BACKGROUND CHECKS?

Yes.  Each coach has a background check done through AAU and through USA Gold licence requirement

HOW MUCH OF A COMMITMENT IS IT TO PLAY ON A TEAM?

We expect all team members to attend all team practices, team trainings, and games. We understand that families have other commitments, but coaches will expect consistent attendance.  If you need to miss for any reason this should be communicated with your team coach. All travel team players must be on a training program, doesnt necessarily have to be with Magic , however, please look at Magic program as a training option.

WHAT HAPPENS IF MY CHILD CONSTANTLY MISSES GAMES AND PRACTICES?

Playing time is not guaranteed.  It must be earned with commitment and production.  This is done by attending practice, training, and games.  Coaches have full discretion to move players from one team to another.  The reason for being relocated or replaced would be if a player does not meet coaches or directors expectations in attendance, commitment, and/or production.

HOW IS TEAM COMMUNICATION DONE?

Team communication is done through Teamsnap.  Each team will have their own Team Snap with their own team calendar.  This is where practice days and times will be and all tournaments and leagues.  It is important for each family to mark their availability in the Teamsnap calendar so coaches know who will be attending.

WHAT IS THE BEST WAY TO COMMUNICATE WITH NW MAGIC?

The best way to contact NW Magic is through email (coachvanessa@northwestmagic.org) or text 253-355-6497.  Please always include your child's first and last name team/grade and a phone number

CAN MY CHILD PLAY FOR ANOTHER CLUB TEAM AND NW MAGIC?

No.  NW Magic team members may not play for another club team and NW Magic at the same time.  School teams, feeder/community  teams, and native teams are ok.

WHAT LEVEL OF PLAY ARE NW MAGIC TEAMS?  DO YOU HAVE MORE THAN ONE TEAM AT EACH GRADE LEVEL?

We can have up to 2-3 teams at each grade level. We have teams for all levels.  National or local/regional teams.  Our national teams play at the highest level.  Teams can be highly competitive or developmental.  We have something for everyone.

HOW MANY PLAYERS ARE ON A TEAM?

We let the coach decide how many players they would like to have on their team.  Some teams carry 8-10. Others may carry 10-12.

DO YOU POST EACH TEAMS ROSTERS ON YOUR WEBSITE AFTER TRYOUTS/EVALUATIONS? Expand

Yes.

HOW DO WE KNOW IF MY CHILD HAS MADE A TEAM?

Email/invites start to go out the day after evaluations/tryouts are completed. This could take 24-48 hours to be completed due to a large amount of players trying out.
