From beginners learning the game to advanced showcase players, Nike EYBL, Nike EYCL, Jr. EYBL, Circuit, Legacy, varsity, and college-bound athletes preparing for the next level, our summer pathway provides skill development, basketball IQ, competition, confidence-building, and position-specific training opportunities for every player.

Our Summer Development Series is designed to meet players where they are and help them take the next step in their basketball journey.

Review the Summer Development Series schedule and select the training(s) that best fit your player’s goals.

Choose either a Drop-In Session or a Training Package and submit payment directly to the trainer.

Send the trainer a text message confirming:

All Summer Development Series trainers follow the same Northwest Magic pricing structure.

Payment is made directly to the trainer hosting the training session. Trainers independently manage  attendance, scheduling, and payment collection.

The Summer Development Series provides athletes an opportunity to train with Northwest Magic coaches, develop their skills, and become familiar with the Northwest Magic culture and expectations.

SUMMER DEVELOPMENT SERIES TRAINING DESCRIPTIONS

At Northwest Magic, we believe player development should be intentional, progressive, and age-appropriate. Our Summer Development Series offers training opportunities for players of all ages and skill levels. Whether your athlete is just learning the game or preparing for high school and national-level competition, we have a training option designed to help them improve.

HEADSTART HOOPERS

Coach Vanessa

Kindergarten–3rd Grade

Headstart Hoopers is Northwest Magic’s introductory basketball program designed specifically for young athletes. Players are introduced to basketball fundamentals through fun, age-appropriate drills, games, and activities that focus on skill development, confidence, coordination, teamwork, and sportsmanship.

Our goal is to help young players develop a love for basketball while building a strong athletic foundation.

LEGACY LEAGUE

Legacy League is Northwest Magic’s developmental league designed to bridge the gap between recreational basketball and competitive basketball. Players receive skill instruction, learn team concepts, and participate in structured game play while developing confidence and basketball IQ.

HANDLE ACADEMY

Handle Academy focuses on ball control, confidence, coordination, and decision-making. Players learn how to protect the basketball, handle pressure, and become more effective playmakers.

KNIGHT VISION SKILL DEVELOPMENT + GAME READ + PACE

Knight Vision Skill Development + Game Read + Pace teaches players how to develop skills while understanding how the game is actually played. Athletes learn spacing, timing, pace, movement without the ball, passing reads, and decision-making through game-like situations.

Players are challenged to think the game, not just play the game.

DECISION MAKER LAB

Decision Maker Lab is designed for advanced players who want to improve their ability to process the game, read defenses, and make winning decisions under pressure. Players learn offensive reads, reactions, game management, pace control, and how to create advantages within team systems.

This training focuses on the mental side of basketball just as much as the physical side.

SHOT LAB

Shot Lab is designed to improve shooting mechanics, consistency, confidence, and game-shot preparation. Players focus on footwork, balance, release, shooting off the catch, and game-speed repetitions.

SPEED LAB

Speed Lab is designed to help athletes become quicker, faster, and more explosive on the basketball court. Players work on acceleration, agility, change of direction, balance, coordination, reaction time, and basketball-specific movement patterns.

This is not track training. Every drill is designed to directly improve basketball performance.

Best for players who want to:

  • Improve first-step quickness

  • Become more explosive

  • Improve lateral movement and defense

  • Increase speed in transition

  • Develop better athletic movement patterns

POST TRAINING

6th Grade–High School

Coach Gena’s Post Training develops footwork, finishing, rebounding, positioning, and post moves for players who play inside or want to expand their skill set around the basket.

Best for players who want to:

  • Improve post play

  • Become a stronger rebounder

  • Finish through contact

  • Increase versatility around the basket

POST TRAINING

Coach Strozier

6th Grade–High School

Coach Strozier’s Post Training focuses on elite footwork, physicality, positioning, scoring moves, rebounding, and understanding how post players impact winning. Sessions emphasize game application and competitive play.

Best for players who want to:

  • Become a more effective post player

  • Improve low-post scoring

  • Rebound at a higher level

  • Learn advanced footwork and positioning

GUARD & POST SYNERGY

7th Grade–High School

The best teams have guards and post players who understand how to play together. Guard & Post Synergy teaches players how to create advantages through screening actions, passing angles, spacing, timing, post entries, reads, and offensive concepts used at the high school and college levels.

Players learn how each position impacts the other and how to maximize team success through basketball IQ and execution.

Best for players who want to:

  • Understand team offensive concepts

FUNDAMENTALS TRAINING

Coach Le’Asia

4th–6th Grade

Fundamentals Training focuses on building the foundation every player needs to be successful. Sessions emphasize ball handling, passing, shooting form, footwork, defense, rebounding, and basketball terminology in a positive and encouraging environment.

Players will develop confidence while learning the game the right way.

Best for players who want to:

  • Learn proper basketball fundamentals

  • Build confidence

  • Improve overall skill development

  • Prepare for competitive team basketball

  • Develop strong basketball habits

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

Please note that several Northwest Magic Summer Development Series trainers also coach Northwest Magic travel teams and national travel teams throughout the summer.

As a result, there may be occasional blackout dates, schedule adjustments, or periods when a trainer is traveling and training sessions are not offered.

Training availability, schedule changes, and any blackout dates will be communicated directly by the trainer and confirmed upon registration.

We encourage families to register early and communicate directly with trainers regarding summer availability and scheduling.

Thank you for your flexibility as our coaches balance player development, team coaching responsibilities, and national travel schedules throughout the summer.
