For 21 seasons, Northwest Magic has been developing girls basketball players throughout the Pacific Northwest.
What started with a commitment to teaching the game has grown into a complete player-development pathway — from a young athlete’s first years in the gym to regional competition, National basketball, the Nike stage, high school basketball, college basketball and beyond.
Our mission remains simple:

We don’t build our program around one tournament, one season or one result.

Season 21 represents the next chapter of Northwest Magic — and one of the most exciting periods of growth in our history.

Northwest Magic National teams

Five days of player-development opportunities
An expanding National player pool
And the expansion of Northwest Magic into Portland, Oregon through Northwest Magic Rip City Fire

Northwest Magic National creates opportunities for selected players to compete beyond their home-team schedule.
National rosters may bring together athletes from across the Northwest Magic program based on:

• Readiness
• Position
• Competition level
• Team needs
Players continue developing with their home teams while positioning themselves for opportunities above them.
NIKE JR. EYBL
THE NATIONAL NIKE PATHWAY
Nike Jr. EYBL represents one of the highest competitive opportunities within our youth program.
Players are evaluated and selected from within the Northwest Magic development and National player pool for opportunities to compete on the Nike stage.
A Northwest Magic roster spot does not automatically guarantee a National or Nike position.
The opportunity is earned through development, preparation and readiness.

As our athletes grow, so does the pathway.
Our high school programming focuses on preparing players for:
• High school basketball
• Advanced skill development

Our responsibility is to prepare them for their next opportunity.

When you see Northwest Magic teams named Team Huff, Team Rice, Team Maxwell, Team Tiarra and after other Magic alumni, those names were chosen intentionally.
Our Nike and National teams proudly carry the names of former Northwest Magic players who continued their basketball journeys to the professional level.
They were once young Magic players too.
They practiced in Magic gyms.
They wore Magic across their chest.
They competed.
They developed.
They grew.
And they continued their journeys to some of the highest levels of basketball.
Today, another generation gets to carry those names.

This tradition connects our present to our history and reminds every young Magic athlete that she is part of something that began long before her season — and will continue long after it.

Season 21 marks an exciting expansion of the Northwest Magic footprint.
We are proud to welcome Rip City Fire, led by Coach Terry Hill and Coach Hayward Demison, under the Northwest Magic umbrella as:
NORTHWEST MAGIC RIP CITY FIRE
Northwest Magic Rip City Fire establishes our Portland home and expands our player-development footprint throughout the Pacific Northwest.
Our founding Portland group includes 5th–7th grade athletes who train and compete together as one team, currently competing in the 7th Grade Division.
Portland athletes continue developing and competing from their Portland home while becoming part of the larger Northwest Magic player pool.
That means players throughout Washington and Oregon can be evaluated for opportunities including:

National Nike Opportunities
based on development, performance, readiness, position and roster needs.
This is where Portland begins.
It is not where we expect it to end.
Our vision is to continue developing Northwest Magic Rip City Fire and expand into additional grade levels and opportunities.
